Blue UFO robot Kress

UFO robot (beachtoy), Galba, Italy, 1970's

Another bootleg - this one is basically a Robot Kress from the Machine Blaster robot series - one of these cartoons that was really popular in Italy but basically forgotten in other countries.

Takemi made a small diecast toy of this character, this one is bigger but all blueish plastic...

At your launching stations, and quickly !

Space Satellites with launching site, Luois Marx & Co., USA,
1953
One of my son's (David) favorite toys, this one is quite old but works as it did in the 50's. Put the flying discs/saucers on the top of the tinplate base, crank the wooden handle and zwooooooof - there goes the paint of our living room's ceiling.

Very effective - and definitely made before any "don't get my kid into hospital" protectionistic movements that made contemporary toys oh soo dull. (oh yes, because I forgot to tell you - at the left of the toy (blue disc with 3 pins) came a spring-loaded missile - and yes, sharp it was - and even more soo powerfull !) If you weren't that lucky, you could easily loose an eye on that one.

SHADO - UFO

In the Gerry ANderson TV serie UFO, the earth had a number of ways to get rid of the invaders... these tanks were used for recon and defensive purposes. They would spot UFO's that got through moon base defense and go after them...

UFO

Yes, ... the missile comes in black

Another great English space show, and from the same maker as the Thunderbirds, was UFO - but this time not made with puppets but real actors. The plot ? A base on the moon that helped a secret organization free the earth of UFO attacks.
