The LeSabre concept

Buick LeSabre, Marx, USA, 1952

Sometimes the design of one object leads the way to the future... This was certainly the case with Harley Earl's designs at GM. The LeSabre car was based on every curve and line aviation from that jet age could throw at it... and it went 12Volts - this at least is a characteristic every modern car has by now. In 1951 ? Kind of the exception....

It is nice to have a toy with a driver from time to time...

Changing a tire ? No problem, electric lifting jacks were integrated in the car...

Hubley Fire Brigade ?

Ahrens-Fox fire (pump) engine, Hubley, USA, 1950's
I don't really collect fire engines, but this one caught my attentuion by the spectacular futuristic - art deco design of the toy. From the "chrome" sphere on front of the radiator, it should suposedly be a model of an Ahrens-Fox fire truck (1910-1977). Ahrens-Fox fire engines were produced in Ohio and were recognizable by the chromed sphere above the pump that held air and smoothed the outgoing pressure fluctuations from the piston pump.
