To the moon and back... eating cookies !

Tintin, LU (biscuits)
Hergé 1994

This figurine was a promotional item in the days when biscuit packages still had some freebies ! There were 5 figurines in total (Tintin, Haddock, Snowy, Thompson and Thompson) + the moon rocket as a keyholder. There were also other gifts, like little puzzles and so on. Oh, good times...

Flea markets...

Tintin au marché aux puces, Moulinsart, 2011, China

Like our Belgian hero, I find a lot of toys on the flea market of Lisbon, so here is a little story behind it :

The Feira da Ladra, which literally translates into “Thieve’s Market” (in Portuguese “ladra” is a woman thief), is a local flea market that spans several streets of Lisbon’s Alfama district (Campo de Santa Clara). It is believed that this market has its roots in the Middle Ages (since the 12th century to be accurate), when traders used to go there to sell their products as well as stolen goods (as the name suggests). Nonetheless, the name Feira da Ladra itself, only dates back to the 17th Century.

More about it here.

Tintin made in Portugal !

Tintin e companhia , Bertrand, Portugal, 1970's

Our little belgian reporter has always been quite popular here in Portugal. These figurines were made with Heimo molds by the portuguese publishing company Bertrand. For the funny story, I started learning portuguese by re-reading all Tintin comic books in that language.

Are you also and international "connaisseur Tintinologue ?"

To know how or heroes are called in each language, go here.

Les aventures de Tintin

Moon Rocket, Moulinsart, 2000's

Tintin is coming back on the big screen pretty soon ! Not the moon stories - though. Pitty, because he has the best rocket around the block ! Before Neil and Buzz - Snowy (Milou) and his master went on our satelite... and made it back to mother earth!
