Green-horned Grandizer / Goldorak / Goldrake ?

They used the stickers for the arms on the thighs !

How weird can you get ?

At least on the box the horns are yellow !

Piforak with his Herculopoing

Piforak Robot, PIF Gadget Magazine
France, 1979

Goldorak being such a success story in France, it was not long before everyone wanted to surf the Super Robot wave. This one here is a build-yourself kit that was given with the purchase of the PIF Gadget magazine, a publication for kids that saw daylight in 1969, but got a lot of hype during the 70ies and 80ies, especially because they were one of the first magazines that came with a "gadget" (little plastic toy or other gizmo) that kids could build themselfves and put in a backpack to bring to school and show their friends during recess.

The relationship with Goldorak (=PiforaK) and his detachable fists, the Fulgoropoing (here "Herculopoing") cannot be more obvious.

The Lab

Well, you knew this would be there sooner or later... The hiding place of the greatest robot of all time ? Check. One of the more elusive toys on my wanted list ? Check. It's plastic and metal and has it all : retractable tower, laser guns, spring loaded missiles, secret compartments... and the smallest version of Grendizer and Spazer I have in my collection...

Paper heroes

When you think about the Génération Goldorak, you think automatically about French TV... but it was also highly popular in North Africa.

Here are two examples of paper puppets to assemble with Arabic packaging. Maker unknown...

Flying Goldrake Saucer

Atlas UFO robot, Cosmec, Italy, 1979

Cosmec did a number of these. You had Superman of course... but also our favorite robot in 2 different versions. Here is the saucer. (for the robot version click here) Just clip the "fishing rod" to the wing (there is already a hole there for the occasion) and start flying the ultralight piece of blown plastic.in a circular motion in the air. Hours of fun guaranteed !
