Make the Phoenix fly

Phoenix, JEM - SRJJ, France, 1979

This toy was heavily promoted in the "Bataille des Planètes" magazine of the same period.

The "gun" inserts in the lower part of the craft, then it's just a matter of pressing the trigger and off it flies !

Red Zark ?

Robot, Ferrero ? Italy ?, 1980's ?

No markings on this one. Comes from France and seller claims it is a Ferrero Kinder Surprise toy.

Has the size of a Lego minifig.

And the design is obviously based on The Battle of the Planets 7 Zark 7...

G-Force ! Go !

La Bataille des Planètes – Jeux 6-14 ans, MB, Ireland, 1979
Does this game look familiar ? Yes, it is EXACLTY the same as the Captian Future / Flam game in the messages below, except for the graphics...

An easy way for MB to get on the wagon of all the cartoons of the 1980's at a very small cost...

Cards showing where (=which hole) you need your spinning top to land in...

Flexibility and elasticity

Marc, Orli Jouet, France, 1979

This is one of the most common renditions of Marc (Ken / Ace Goodheart (USA)) the leader of Gatchaman / Bataille des Planètes.

He was sold like this and also on blister card.

Unfortunately, only four out of the five members were made this way (Tiny (USA) / Alumette (FR) / Ryû (JP) never made it as a bendable figurine... )

7 Zark 7 keyholder, ?, Spain, 1970's

For all of you Gatchaman fans out there... Yes, there was another robot in the second series. But it did not have any of the charisma of this one...

Going to Vegas, Baby !

Straight from the Time-Bokan / Yatterman series is this little guy. Remember the fuzzy dice people installed in their cars ? Well, here you have the bot-version. Strangely enough, it even appeared in a Gatchaman spin-off later on !

June the Swan - going for Highway Patrol duty ?

June with Bike, Popy, Japan, 1970's

Why the Police stickers ? Why the Beacon ?
Sometimes you just wonder - what were they thinking of ?
Has anyone else a "police-version" of this toy, or is it just a wise-guy that "customized" this toy to be able to ride along with other CHiPs agents ?

Korean Ken

BOTP Ken, ?, Korea, 1980's

Japanese culture flowed not only to Europe, but to lots of other asiatic countries also. Korea (South) grew up with a bunch of the same cartoons I saw in Belgium when I was a kid, and Korean toy companies were quick to cash in, making very often plastic versions of the Japanese diecast toys from Popy or Takatoku...

This Ken figurine came with the Gold Phoenix ship seen here...Gold Phoenix Korea

Arising from the ashes...

G-5 - front view
God Phoenix Repaint version, Fewture Models, China,
2012

What would 5 youngsters do without an amazing ship that could transform itself into a firebird ? Well, they would not be able to defeat earth's invadors, for sure ! This is the first design of the Phoenix - reworked with 21st century tooling.

Size comparaison with vintage PB-81 (Popy) version
