Going to the moon, mister Bond ?

Can you make it disappear ? Oh James...

Corgi JR and Coibel models side by side
Of course ! A blue car in a blue ocean not to get spotted... Why did Q not think about this earlier ? His Spanish colleagues of the MI cinco (yes, the MI 5 in Spain) did. And they went the extra mile to use a British Lotus Esprit. (nobody wants to be seen driving in a Seat over there, not even their secret services...lol)

James Bond Lotus Esprit S1, Coibel, Spain, 1977
For the fun facts: Coibel did a number of James Bond guns and rifles at the time, and this car. Why did they paint it blue to start ? Nobody knows. But since it does not show any indication of copyrights, maybe it was just so they could not get sued by the studios....~

Read mote about the real car here.

Oh no James...

James Bond DB6, Husky, UK,1968
James Bond DB5, Corgi, UK, 1970's
For queen and country... and before out favorite agent got his hands on BMW's and other German metal, his ride and the one that defines him was this... the DB5. This is one of Corgi Toys best selling toys ever, and no wonder ! It has all the gimmicks of the real one: ejectable seat, bullet screen and submachine guns in the grille. Earlier models also had tire-slasher and revolving license plates. Gama and Gilbert and lots of other toy companies got their try at the same model - some like Husky with a DB6 instead of a DB5...
All in all one of the Hall-of-Fame toys of entire generations.

One of the original ads for the Corgi model - 1966
And the model continues to live on... with more details but less play-value... A good example of what toy safety standarts did to kill spring loaded mechanisms...

OK, the fake horse's ... goes up and the ramp goes down and...

Octopussy set (James Bond), Corgi, Britain, 1980's

The name is Bond. The gadgets are from the Q division. And the toy is from Corgi. The mini plane with folding wings goes out of the horse's trailer, just like in the movie. And James (Roger Moore) escapes unharmed... again, without a scratch... again... and right into a story full of Fabergé eggs, spies and more.

Bond, James Bond

If there is one serie that showed us gadgets to be used in the future (from digital watches to say, ... diving cars) it was James Bond.
