King Moguras and Barracuda Tank

King Moguras, Midori Shokai, Japan, 1971

This design is remeniscent of the Mole from the Thunderbirds series.  The model had originally a missile-shooting turret  and 2 side missiles (missing here).

Ultraman's wheels for rock-splitting action !

This is another toy coming straight from the Japanese universe of Ultraman (Ultraman Taro to be exact): behold the Bermider II tank ! (with wind-up key)

Looks like the Mole from the Thuncerbirds but on esteroids... and yes, the design of the box is way cooler than the design of the toys itself... but at least it has a spark mechanism behind an orange translucid panel at the back.

Ultraman

Anyone with a fetish for latex ? The actors filming these episodes did not have an easy job...

Ultraman figurine (hard plastic), ?

Some heroes acquire immediate fame - others are just for a few. Ultraman was very popular in Japan - but unfortunatelly not so much over here in Europe. Some diehard fans collect only Ultraman toys.
I have only one, and it is rather small... Different versions, masks and costumes existed, each new season modifying a little the version from the season before...

It gets dusty in space !

Ultraman-Leo Ultra-fighter Mac-Ki Machine1 (wind-up),
IMAI, Japan, 1970's
Just like old wine bottles, old toys gather space dust - especially when they enter asteroid fields - or when their owner forgets to clean them before taking the picture (like in this case).

Takkong

Takkong (from Utlraman), Popy, Japan,
2003 reissue

Cool header card !

Pure vinyl bliss !

Ultraman was not a show that aired on French TV, so I have to admit it is not one of the things I grew up with as a child. But if there is one hero that is more popular in Japan than in the rest of the world, this is it !
Some collectors are only specialized in him - and have thousands of pieces in their collection. The number of monsters Ultraman had to fight is staggering - and this is one of them.

Special effects meant lots of explosions (T-Birds style) and a man in a rubber suit (Godzilla style).
