Blue UFO robot Kress

UFO robot (beachtoy), Galba, Italy, 1970's

Another bootleg - this one is basically a Robot Kress from the Machine Blaster robot series - one of these cartoons that was really popular in Italy but basically forgotten in other countries.

Takemi made a small diecast toy of this character, this one is bigger but all blueish plastic...

It's cold on Hoth !

Wampa, Kenner, Hong Kong, 1981
The original. All arms attached. OK, not funny....
The migoo of Nepal became George's model for this... don't think CGI did it more justice than the original movies though... See some pics of the real deal here.

Valkyrie

In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who decide which soldiers die in battle and which live. (Wikipedia)

Quite interestingly, it made its way to the land of emperors and rising suns...

The Chicco astronauts

Squeeze Astronauts, Chicco, Italy, 1970's

These have a hole on their head, and I did not yet understand why. (there is another hole below their feet with the squeek mechanism.)

They were maybe attached to some kind of device ?

Goldorak - the ugly years...

A number of unlicenced beach-toys and other items have shown up during the years... but this one takes the cake for ugliness.

I think it was a parachute or kite - toy. Obviously missing the fabric and connecting wires.

Grandizer, kite or glider figurine ?, France,
1970's

United Colours of Satellite Explorers - with fishtank...

Satellite Explorers, WS NY(?), USA, 1950's

Who said space was colourless ? I've got the Rainbow Bright familly over here ! If I believe the info given by one of my books "Blast Off" (see biography) these would have been copies of Ajax spacemen.

Pink Rocket with Astronaut

Another strange toy. Made out of blown plastic, this beach - pull - toy seems like a knock-off of the tin Masaduya Space Rocket produced in Japan (and later copied in China) - see Alphadrome Database. Even the numbering is the same...

I would guess this came later and from Hong Kong (HK was the place for plastic sci-fi in the 70ies)

Rocket (pull-toy), ?, presumably HK, 1970's

V-2 Robot

Do I look familiar ?

My cousin is the actor !

Robot V-2, GIG (nel paese delle meraviglie)
Taiwan (made for Italian market), 1970's

This one, due to obvious reasons, is kind of a copycat of the Astromech droid R2-D2 in Star Wars. Very heavy radio controlled toy, it will 8 batteries of 3 different sizes to make it work (not kidding) and the remote looks more like a little box from a James Bond villain (to blow up the world or somehing else evilish) than anything else.

A perfect end of 70ies flavour kind of toy !
